Emergency contraception is available from the following sources and is most effective taken as soon after unprotected sex as possible.
- The Ella Gordon Unit at St Mary’s hospital 9286 6301
- St Mary’s hospital Treatment Centre
- Over the counter at pharmacies – free for under 25s from some pharmacies
- Surgery – book a telephone triage appointment
Medicals
We do medicals for the DVLA, taxi drivers and other purposes. There is always a charge for this work – our reception will be able to provide details and book an appointment for you.
Temporary Residents
We are always willing to see people who are visiting Southsea and need the assistance of a GP. Speak to reception for advice on how we can best help you. You could be seen under the NHS (if a UK resident)
Pregnancy and Child care
The midwife attached to our surgery runs regular clinics at our surgery. The doctors see women for ante-natal appointments during regular surgery hours. Please make it clear when booking an appointment if it is for antenatal purposes.
The health visitors run a weekly clinic at Waverley Road. Please ask reception or check the notice board for times and other places. Our nurses provide immunisations for your child. Times are flexible – please ask our receptionists for details.
Maintaining Good Health
We recommend that all patients with on-going health problems are seen regularly by a nurse or a GP to monitor their condition. We offer annual reviews for people with: Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Epilepsy, High blood pressure, Hypothyroidism, Mental health problems, Learning Difficulties, Obesity, Stroke
We will write to you to remind you to make an appointment for your check up. The nurses also offer a well man/woman check for all patients who simply want an MOT check up.
